Guard returning home

On 2 May 2014 John watched the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Afterwards John happened to be where the Guard marches home. It reminded John very much of the Grey Band street march past in Port Elizabeth. John felt very proud. Here is a video John took as the guard reached home.

And - the March past at the Palace earlier

German Shepherd Trafalgar Square London

Patricia and John are in London. Here are some pictures they sent me. The first picture shows the National Gallery and St. Martin's in the Fields in Trafalgar Square. The second picture is of the excellent restaurant in the crypt beneath St. Martins

The restaurant below St. Martins is much bigger than the picture suggests. The is an excellent shop as well. Above the crypt is the peaceful Church right next to the throbbing energy of Trafalgar Square.

Iron Man And German Shepherd - Port Elizabeth 6th April 2014

Report from Indy the German Shepherd

Very well done Scott!

The Iron Man was held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, today.
Almost 2400 men and women took part! Competitors from all over the world.

3.8 km swim
180.2 km cycle
42.2 marathon

Watched by thousands.
John and Patricia went to watch (at a quiet spot) as a good family friend, Scott Paton was competing. Here is a video of some of the cyclists. Most impressive. Listen to the crowd encouraging the cyclists as they pass by! Massive support. The great athletes deserve it.

Wow! Scott finished in 11 hours 35 minutes 15 Seconds.

The cut off was 17 hours

Well done Scott! Very well done!

It is a huge event - see here.

Bird lover feeding a rescued baby Olive Thrush

John's good friend is  a retired Professor who loves animals and birds very much.  He found this baby olive thrush with one blind eye. He now feeds the thrush by hand. The thrush treats him like his mother. Watch how the baby bird opens his mouth for food. The baby thrush can now fly. When the Professor is working on his computer the thrush flies to him and walks all over him. A really loving bond has been established. Very moving.

 Enjoy!

German Shepherd says goodbye to Benji

My dear beloved friend and companion has passed away. He had not been well but was very brave. We are all heart broken. As he lay dying with John and Patricia at his side patting him I licked his face and pawed him but he was too, too tired to play.
One day Benji, we will all meet at the Rainbow Bridge.

Questions and the German Shepherd

Lets face it. German Shepherds are smarter than humans. But there is hope.
Here is a book that can help humans think more clearly/

German Shepherd and the Comfort Zone

Hi

Here is something to think about:

Sounds as if Grier is a smart guy with plenty of life experience.

German Shepherd says wow to Hubble

Hi humans

You think you have it all worked out!

I often look at the stars in the night sky.
The are so beautiful seen from Southern Africa.
Near the Constellation of Orion is a blank bit of dark sky.
No Stars.
No light.
Nothing.
And then some smart humans pointed the Hubble telescope at the dark spot.
And then - Wow!
It is so amazing that I barked for five minutes without stopping!

Have a look.

German Shepherd Fun with Sticks in the Kromme River

Here I am with Benjie and Pat in the Kromme River - having fun with sticks. Benjie is getting on but he insists on having his own stick! Great fun.
Patricia throws well! Good at sport? You bet!  She won the Cape Town ladies tennis singles when she was at the University of Cape Town.

German Shepherd giving a swimming lesson

Hi

Indy here!

I am teaching Patricia to swim. This is a video of me giving her her first swimming lesson. As you can see she is coming along well. Not up to my standard but there is hope.

PS  I have a sneaky feeling she has swum before! I must check up on that!

German Shepherd and Noisy Birds in South Africa

Hi
I live near the southern tip of South Africa. There are some noisy birds that wake us up in the morning at the Kromme River.  I had a word or two for them!

Shuush now!

German Shepherd's Old Pal Benjie

My old pal Benjie is getting on! But he still enjoys a trip to the river. Here he is getting into the car after a swim.  What a useful ramp!
